A Transformed Mind

Thomas Benson

I have been asking myself the question, "What is the best way to lay hold of what Jesus purchased for us at Calvary?"

What we know is that Jesus came to earth to redeem, to restore and to make available to man all that was lost in the fall. Jesus made the statement while hanging on the cross, "It is finished."

After His resurrection the atonement was absolute, there was absolutely nothing that Adam had that was not purchased back for us by the shed blood of the Holy Lamb of God.

Unfortunately, we live far below what is rightfully ours in so many ways, we only eat the crumbs from that Master's table when we have been invited to pull up a chair and eat at the same table as the Lord.

To really be able to step into everything that the atonement provides we will need to have a truly transformed mind. I believe that during Christ's passion when they plaited the thorns into a crown and hammered it down on His head that the mind of Christ became available to us.

Scripture says in Is. 55:8-9 that "God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts" but only when we are fully able to embrace the mind of Christ will His thoughts and ways become accesable to us.

Paul says in Rom.12:2 "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." The only way we are able to transform our mind is by using the word of God, which is sharper than a two edged sword, even to the dividing of soul and spirit.

Prov.23:7 "As a man thinks in his heart so is he, what you think or meditate on is what you will believe." I know that in my own mind there are memories and pictures that absolutely do not belong in the mind of Christ, because this situation exists, some of the memories that are stored there need to be deleted. I don't know how to forget a memory, I only know that Christ has the ability to forget as in"our sins are as far removed as the east is from the west" Ps.103:12

One morning He said to me, "There is a coming of grace to erase the old roads of thought that we have trod on for many years into new freeways of thinking." Our thoughts will be free of all the old, all the distorted, all the painful things, this is what is available to us in the mind of Christ and this is what He made available to us at Calvary.
