Trust in the Lord - Cal Pierce

We are entering into a new year that raises more questions than answers. Each new year seems to bring an increase of difficult times. There is an increase of weather extremes, terrorism, moral failure of entire nations, economic failure and elections that aren’t looking favorable.

As believers it becomes harder to understand what to do. This is especially true when our very Biblical values are being attacked. When we have difficulty understanding the world, it’s time that we press into understanding the things of God. What God has is the answer the world needs. God gives us a great word on this in Proverbs 3:5-8:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body, and refreshment to your bones.”

Here the Lord is telling us not to lean upon our own understanding but to trust in Him. In other words, the condition of the world should not change our position in God. Our own understanding will be unfruitful when we focus on the world. We must trust that God who created the world has the power to fix it.

If we will acknowledge Him by focusing on His promises, His will for us will not fail. God’s will is going to be fulfilled regardless of what man, or the enemy, does. We know this because Jesus said in Luke 16:17:

“It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter of the law (Word) to fail.”

The outcome will be the will of God, not the will of man. If we trust and acknowledge Him, He will direct our path.

When we trust in the Lord and turn from evil, He promises healing to our bodies and refreshment to our bones. We will then have a peace that will surpass our understanding. (Eph 3:19) As believers we must remind ourselves that we are on the winning team and God’s Word gives us the winning strategy. With God, all things are possible to them who believe.
