A Year of Opportunity

Cal Pierce

As we enter into the year 2012, we need to be mindful of who we are and what we carry. The number 12 represents government. In Isaiah 9:6, we are told of Jesus coming to the earth and that the government will rest on His shoulders. The word "government" means to have the power to prevail. In verse 7, we are told that there will be no end to the increase of His government. In other words, His government will continue to increase and grow. This is what Jesus has brought to us on earth. We have to be mindful that we are now the body of Christ. He is our head and the government now rests on our shoulders. In Luke 10:19, He has given us the governmental authority over all the power of the enemy. This authority is transferred to us by the Holy Spirit. The Word says, "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you." (Acts 1:8) This power is to establish His Kingdom government on earth as it is in heaven. (Matt. 6:10)

This is the year to walk in governmental authority. To walk in it, you have to take it. As we think within ourselves, so are we. We must PUT ON the whole armor of God's authority. The enemy will measure us by how we see ourselves. If we focus on a world that is falling apart, we will begin to fall apart. Where we focus our sight will determine what will increase. Our focus needs to be on what God is doing, not on what the enemy is doing. We must not be sidetracked by the deep darkness that is covering the earth. We are called to bring Kingdom light into a dark place. We need to realize we have all authority.

As we move throughout this year and beyond, we need to see ourselves as carrying God's government everywhere we go. When we enter into a dark place or situation, our Kingdom light will change or illuminate the darkness. Why? Because greater is He, the Holy Spirit in us, than he, the enemy.
We must not worry about the things we need in our lives, they will be provided in the Kingdom we bring. As we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, all of the things we need will be added to us. (Matt. 6:33) Our opportunity will always exist in the Kingdom Government of God. To seek it first means it must be the main thing in our daily lives. Success isn't our goal, the Kingdom of God is our goal. When the Kingdom arrives, it brings success.
