Our Victory - Cal Pierce

As a Christian, living in a fallen world, we need to know the authority that God has given us. Our battle isn't against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of darkness. (Eph 6:12) The key here is that we know that we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loves us. (Rom 8:37) We don't battle for victory, we battle from victory. We conquer, not with our strength, but with His strength. It's Christ in us, the hope of glory.

We are told to put on the full armor of God that we are able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. (Eph 6:11) The thing we need to remind ourselves of is that we put on God's armor. It's His armor, His power, we battle with, not our own. The natural man cannot battle in the spirit realm without spiritual weapons. In 2 Cor, 10:3-4, we are told,

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses."

When we battle in the flesh, in our own strength, the enemy can overcome us. The flesh doesn't have the power or the authority to overcome a spirit enemy. The way to overcome the enemy is to be overcome by our God. It is God who divinely releases His power in us to destroy the work of the enemy. Greater is He who is in us than he who comes against us.

As a born again believer, we become occupied by the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, who is the power in us, to overwhelmingly conquer the enemy. If our mind isn't renewed to this truth, we will be conformed to the world and battle in the flesh. (Rom 12:2) A believer who is conformed to the world, gives the enemy a legal right to defeat him. Our weapons are not of the flesh or the natural realm.

When we are born again, we are set-up with the ability to live in victory. I Jn 5:4 say,

"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith."

Everything we need to live in victory has been provided to us. What has been provided by God must be activated through faith if we are to overcome. We must turn over the problem, the issues, to the Holy Spirit and believe.  As we walk with Him in faith, He will be more than enough to give us the victory.
