Our Valentine - Maribeth Benson

The Valentine cards are all in the stores, ones for your spouse, parents, grandparents, teachers, aunts, uncles, kids, grandkids and even your pet! I don’t know about you but my dog could care less about a Valentine unless it’s made out of bread with a heart shaped piece of salami adorning it. But look as I might, I could not find one card for Jesus. Now He is our first love, and without Him in us we can’t truly have pure unadulterated love towards others.

Agape Love. Being the receptionist at the Healing Rooms I see on average 35- 40 people each day. Today I had a gentleman that came in who was homeless, mildly challenged and not what one might consider ‘lovable’. His prayer request was, “I don’t have any needs, I just love the Lord!”

Now you don’t need a doctorate to realize that this simple man (in our world’s view) already had everything he needed. He loved the Lord, simple as that. And he knew that the Lord loved him. Others that come for prayer have been so hurt or betrayed that they can’t give love to others for fear of being hurt again.

God’s love for us can’t be bought, it’s free, and He is the only one that gives us love unconditionally. Agape Love. This Valentine’s Day, don’t forget to send Him a Valentine because He sends you a Valentine every day! And the postage is always free!
