The Day of the LORD - Thomas Benson

There are some things that we don’t really like to talk about; unpleasant and adverse situations are one of those things. Mal. 4:5 states, “I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” Not only is the spirit of Elijah present in the earth, but Elijah himself has been making appearances. That speaks very strongly to me from a spiritual standpoint that we are on the cusp of something that the world has never seen before.

The meaning of the number 14 is new covenant, double portion and a fullness of time. The prophet Bob Jones just went home to be with the Lord on the 14th of February, Valentine’s Day. Bob was an Elijah-type prophet and his going home on the 14 of the month of the year 2014 is a fullness of time event. Bobby Conner made the statement at Bob’s funeral that this would usher in an Elisha-type ministry, or a time of double portion, that will be made available to those that position and posture themselves to be able to see what the Father is doing and then be completely obedient.

What I have heard, as well as what many others in the body of Christ have heard, is that the coming revival (for lack of a better word) will be like nothing ever seen by man before. I believe that it will be the fulfillment of 1 Cor. 2:9, “Eye has not seen nor ear heard nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him.” We will see the billon souls come into God’s Kingdom that He promised Bob, the fulfillment of the great commission.

This speaks to the great part of the day of the Lord but not to the dreadful part. The Lord spoke to me the day that the big tsunami hit Japan that I should begin to lay up food and water because I might have to feed my neighbors. I began doing that but after a while I became lax about it and finally just stopped. However, for the last number of weeks, every time I turn around I hear from the Lord in a multitude of ways that I need to be diligent in what He has and is showing me. There have been many warnings from both well respected economists as well as some of the prophets that a financial crash is coming this year unlike anything we have seen before. Many people that understand the market and the economy are preparing now to protect themselves and their assets.

I am writing this article on the 26th of February 2014 and three times this morning I have been reminded by the Lord that these things are rapidly approaching. The last time He took me to 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-6, “But concerning the times and seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you, yourselves, know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say peace and safety then sudden destruction comes upon them as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness so that this day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep as others do but let us watch and be sober.”

This passage makes it very clear that we are not to be taken by surprise by what is coming but that we are to be watchful, alert and prepared. Please hear what I am saying: we do not need to be afraid, God always warns His people of approaching danger and has promised to cover us with His wings. But we need to also prepare both in the natural as well as in the spiritual realm. The world will be looking to us and we need to be ready in all phases of life.

God has always saved the best for last, and that means you! You are God’s best, kept for such a time as this. We need to be praising and rejoicing that we are alive now to run with the Lord of Hosts in this last day’s move of God. So run well, beloved, we are going out in a realm of glory that even Moses did not get to see.
