Maribeth, this is God speaking

I just got home today from doing my swim laps at the YMCA. I usually get there at an earlier time in the morning but that 3rd cup of coffee was calling my name. When I finally arrived there, all caffeinated up and ready to work out, I was a wee bit disappointed and, if I'm honest, agitated, when I saw that there was only one lap lane open with a therapy aerobics class taking up the whole other side of this huge pool. I decided to “suck” it up since I already had my suit on, goggles and cap in place and my recently purchased underwater MP3 player was on and ready to be submerged!

Swimming to music is a bit Esther Williams-esque and usually makes me very happy but when you are sharing one lap lane with five people and three of them (who actually belonged in the therapy class) are swimming at crustacean speed, your workout is a work… in progress.

Instead of enjoying my tunes I was getting more and more frustrated, grumbling and thinking to myself, “Why don’t they just move over to the other side of the pool!” Then I realized, as I was grumbling, that the song playing on my MP3 player was How Great Thou Art. LOL! You can’t tell me God doesn’t have a great sense of humor!

Maribeth as Esther Williams

Yep, I am thankful for being in good health and able to exercise without attending therapy sessions. And just to reinforce what He just taught me, the next song that played was You Raise Me Up! I love how subtle He is!

And a little side note here: For those who think my writing may be shallow, I would like to inform you that all of this took place in the deep end of the pool. (smile)

Out of the wading pool...
