Thank You, Jesus! - Maribeth Benson
Aloha! My husband and I were blessed with a trip to Maui last week and let me tell you, it wasn’t hard to leave this 30 degree weather and white stuff on the ground here in Spokane, Washington! The plane ride was long but the anticipation of what we were about to behold was worth the paralyzed gluteus maximus. Disembarking from the plane we were welcomed with 80 degree weather and palm trees swaying along to the trade winds that, frankly, I wouldn’t have traded for all the tea in China.
I was very holy the entire week, I prayed constantly. My first prayer, uttered when the hatch door of the plane opened, was, “Thank you, Jesus!” And then upon the first glance of our new abode for the week, I again prayed, “Thank you, Jesus!” The next morning when viewing this resort's swimming pool, I screamed, “OMG! Thank you, Jesus!” The pool amazingly didn’t have a soul in it! I had the whole pool to myself… a miracle. Ok, it was 4:30 in the morning but it was still a miracle. Yes, that prayer I do remember was a bit more sanctified than the previous ones.
Walking along the beach admiring the beauty that surrounded us, it was hard to fathom that this was actually the fallen state from what God intended when He created the earth. If Maui is an example of the “fallen state” I just can’t fathom what Heaven must be like. I have heard and read some firsthand experiences of people who have frequent flyer miles taking off from International Earth Airways, coming and going as often as they please. They say there are no words to express the colors up there; the flowers even vibrate and turn and bow as you walk, the music and the songs are lyrics and notes that have never been composed before; the beauty, the glory, the peace that emanates from the Throne Room is truly “out of this world!”
I have decided now that when I get up there I would like to have a 2nd home on an island, I want to wake up to the tides from the sea of glass with the song birds singing His praises while I bask on the golden sands in the sun with the Son. I am a seamstress so, of course, I would have to have a fabric store within walking distance of the beach, with 100% off coupons for every bolt of fabric in the store! Heavenly Maui, here I come!
And when I disembark from my angelic flight and enter those pearly gates and finally witness what He has prepared for me, there will be heard in the heavenlies an astounding, “OMG, Hallelujah and Thank you, Jesus!”
