Healing Today - Cal Pierce

We have all at one time or another asked ourselves why we are not seeing more healings. Jesus gave us a mandate in John 14, verse 12, when He said,

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father.”

We read this scripture and say: we are not even doing as much as Jesus did, yet alone greater than. So what is the problem? The first thing we need to recognize is that this isn’t a suggestion, it’s a mandate.

Jesus died so that we would fulfill this mandate. In other words, there is a greater dispensation for healing today than there was when Jesus was on earth. Jesus set this in place when He tells us, we can do greater works because He goes to the Father.

Jesus is now seated at the right hand of the Father and He sends the Holy Spirit to us (verse 16) so that we receive power. (Acts 1:8) With Jesus at the right hand of the Father interceding for us and the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit in us, we can do greater works. So why do we need to do greater works than Jesus has done? The key is in verse 13, so that the Father is glorified in the Son. You see, we’re not to do better than Jesus, we’re to do greater than Jesus so that the Father is Glorified.

It’s important to understand that greater works were the Father’s plans from the beginning. Our heavenly Father had His eyes on us even before He sent Jesus. We are the reason He sent Jesus. He sent Jesus to fulfill His desire for us to do greater works and establish His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.

Redemption places greater works in our hands as the body of Christ with Jesus as our head. Notice, greater works don’t come from Jesus, they come because Jesus goes to the Father. We are to do the greater works to the glory of God.
