Walking in Dominion - Carol Krum
“If you don’t declare and acknowledge your dominion daily, you will walk in a spirit of poverty”.
Recently the Lord has revealed a truth about myself that I believe may become an encouragement to many. First of all, remembering that we are all children of God and because of the work that was accomplished on the cross through the shed blood of Christ, and because we have chosen to be His followers, we are now heirs of the Father and joint heirs with Christ. (Romans 8:17) With that inheritance come many, many privileges and blessings.
When God first created man, He gave him dominion over the earth. Due to sin, the fall took away that dominion. When Christ died, descended into hell and rose again, He reinstated what was lost at that time and He restored that dominion and authority to His followers. This is what the Lord showed me: We must be INTENTIONALLY minded of the DOMINION and AUTHORITY which is inherently ours, calling our minds daily into that truth, declaring dominion over every aspect of our day. If we fail to do so, we will begin to operate in a spirit of poverty.
This word has rocked my world because I came face to face with a very simple truth within myself. I have actually allowed things to dominate my thinking, causing me to believe that I am either not smart enough, good enough, accomplished enough, I’m too old, etc. to accomplish certain tasks. Therefore, I don’t move forward or, if I do, I truly expect defeat or inefficiency in these said tasks. I’m being real and transparent here, my brothers and sisters in Christ.
This word that He deposited into my spirit has exposed an underlying lie that has, in effect, paralyzed me from accomplishing all that He has intended for me as His child. As I reflect on this word, I can see that this is true for many. I know that I’m not alone here! So how do we walk in the dominion that has been given to us and how do we maintain that walk without losing the power He has given us?
First of all, we must keep our lamps full of oil, the anointing of the Holy Spirit. How? Praying in tongues! Praying in that beautiful language that the Holy Spirit has given! Pray out loud with a strong voice. Pray quietly. Sing a song of love to Him in our prayer language, and allow ourselves to fall head over heels in love with Him once again. As the Lord says, return to your first love! This will stir up the spirit man within and in so doing, we will increase in His anointing, the oil in our lamp increases! Jesus gave us His Holy Spirit. He wants us to be FILLED with Him. But we burn up that fuel as we minister to those in our lives. Therefore, it is imperative that we receive daily infilling, and praying in the Spirit is one of the purest gifts we have to assure this is being done. We must be INTENTIONAL about this!
Jesus came to expose the works of the devil. And He said, “I will give you AUTHORITY over all the power of the enemy…” (Luke 10:19) So what prevents us from walking in this authority at any given time? It isn’t God, that’s for sure! It’s either the enemy and his lies that fill our minds, or it’s our own inactivity in maintaining this authority, which then causes us to become ineffective (and we walk in the spirit of poverty in the Kingdom of God!)
We must daily read and speak God’s word over our lives! This is our spiritual IV that pours life into the spirit man. We must speak it strongly with the conviction of truth, not when we feel like it, but until we feel like it! This will flush out the thinking of the world that so insidiously creeps its way into our thinking pattern. This is the key we have been given to “be transformed by the renewing of our minds.” It is crucial that we use it and be INTENTIONAL about this!
We must give God THANKSGIVING and PRAISE continually! Romans 1:21 says, “Because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were they thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” (emphasis added) Ouch! This is how lethargy, discouragement, negativity and complaining seeps into our mind. This can happen as a result of operating in a spirit of poverty! Here is a powerful key that has been given to us to walk in the dominion and authority that has been restored to us. Maintaining a heart, mind and spirit of thanksgiving and praise in ALL things is what keeps us out of places of darkness; so that we live above and not below our circumstances and we are able to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. This is the key which maintains our joy in the Spirit. We must be INTENTIONAL about this!
Romans 8:1-2 says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”
We know that there is a gravitational pull toward the law of sin and death in this world. We see it everywhere! So what keeps us from crashing into that place? The constant infilling of the Holy Spirit! An airplane defies the law of gravity when it is fueled and begins to lift off the ground. There is a thrust and lift that occurs, and only by the amount of fuel it carries is it able to maintain its momentum. When fuel runs low and the destination has not been reached, a fueling plane meets that plane, connects a fuel line and refuels the plane midair. Without this refueling, the plane would crash. The same is true for us. Without a continual refueling of the Holy Spirit power, the gravitational pull of the law of sin and death will begin to have its effect in our lives. This is why we must be so very INTENTIONAL in maintaining our walk in the Spirit, keeping our lamps full at all times.
When we declare our dominion every day, we position ourselves in the authority of the Kingdom of Heaven. It is then that we begin to see things from a Heavenly perspective, viewing what is happening on the earth and in the hearts of people, where all that LSD (Law of Sin and Death) is having its way. We must INTENTIONALLY choose to “thrust and lift” and maintain our momentum by staying fueled and filled in the Spirit!
We have work to do - to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. (Matthew 10:8) We have been equipped to do this and we have been given everything we need to fulfill our destiny! It is our responsibility to use what has been given. When we are so full of the Holy Spirit, we carry the anointing presence of God with us wherever we go and we change the very atmosphere around us. The adventure of walking in our dominion and authority is endless, all to the glory of God!
After this great revelation of basic truths in the Spirit, the Lord gave me a word that sums all of this up in a way that nailed it to the walls of my heart, mind and soul! I pray that you are blessed and encouraged!
“My son (daughter), give attention to my words;
Incline your EARS to my sayings. (speak them out loud so as to hear them)
Do not let them depart from your EYES; (read the Word daily)
Keep them in the midst of your HEART; (returning to our first love)
For they are life to those who find them,
And health to ALL their flesh. (spiritual IV for life to our body, soul and spirit)
